Eye Examinations During These Uncertain Times

Capital Eye, is your locally owned and operated independent family optometry practice, located in Barton; serving Canberra and the surrounding regions.

Our optometry practice is designed with your privacy and comfort in mind. Our personalised approach to our patients and opening strictly by-appointment ensure you have our fullest attention.

When you arrive for your appointment with Capital Eye, you’ll notice that you’ll be the only client in our optometry practice. This complies and exceeds the social distancing requirements advice from the Australian Government. This ensures your safety and provides you with a level of certainty and comfort for seeing our vulnerable patients. Our appointments are spaced out adequately to ensure we follow our strict hygiene and sanitation requirements after each patient.

During your appointment, your optometrist will conduct a series of tests to evaluate your vision and eye health. Some of these tests are similar to what you’ve been experiencing in other optometry practices. Vision assessments are conducted with our state-of-the-art digital technology which leaves little doubt regarding the accuracy of your new spectacle prescription. Similarly, your eye health is assessed by using OCT 3D retinal scans, which can often detect eye diseases years before they occur.

Following our philosophy of supporting local and Australian-owned businesses, your prescription lenses are made from our premium local laboratory in Melbourne. Their German-patented lens technology ensures your new multifocal lenses will provide outstanding edge-to-edge clarity at all distances. Our frames are sourced from our premium European suppliers, designed to last and reused with multiple updates with your spectacle prescription.

Our optical dispensers are fully qualified from the Australasian College of Optical Dispensing. Optical dispensing is not a regulated profession in Australia, unlike other countries such as the UK and New Zealand. A formal qualification is not necessary for an optical dispenser to make your pair of glasses. Despite this, at Capital Eye, we believe that having a qualified dispenser and having a professional that understands your vision is essential. As a result, our patients have full confidence and inspired by the work we do here at Capital Eye.

If you value the importance of your eye health and the assurance that you see at your best with your new glasses, consider visiting our professional and modern practice.
